Flytec 4030 GPS Access

The 4030 offers all of the features of the 4020 Professional plus the ability to interface with a GPS. This will allow for 3 GPS functions:

  • Glide ratio display (actual real-time glide and current glide to goal)
  • Optimized speed-to-fly display
  • Final Glide Computer
GPS Supported Functions

The GPS supported functions offered by Flytec's 4030 GPS Access model are available when the instrument is connected to a standard GPS receiver (NMEA interface). 4 polars ranging from 12 mph to 74 mph can be stored in the form of 50 reference points. Performance polars may be input via the instrument keys or via the PC software. The 4030 may also be used to record the required data to build a performance polar (using Flychart Professional - included).

Glide Ratio Display

When on glide the 4030 will Indicate your actual glide ratio above the ground. When the final glide function is active the 4030 will also display the nominal glide ratio to goal and if you are above or below glide angle to goal.

Optimized speed-to-fly display - McCready's Theory

Allows the pilot to fly at the best possible speed in a particular air mass without any keyboard input. The pilot simply adjusts his airspeed so the optimized speed-to-fly display indicates the pilot's next expected thermal. The influence of headwinds or tailwinds can determined by the user.

Final Glide Computer

When climbing in the last thermal, the 4030 will display actual glide ratio to goal and will indicate the earliest moment as well as the optimum moment to go to goal.

During final glide, the 4030 will display your actual glide ratio, glide ratio to goal, as well as the anticipated arrival height over goal. The comparison between the actual glide ratio and the nominal glide ratio is also displayed. The anticipated headwind or tailwind during the final approach can be specified by the pilot. If less desirable than expected air is encountered on final glide and goal is no longer within reach the 4030 will automatically switch back to the last thermal optimizer mode the moment lift is encountered.

Flychart Professional for windows

The 4030 comes complete with Flychart 4.0 Professional for Windows. Using Flychart the 4030 flight memory including all recorded barograph traces can be downloaded to a PC and stored in the electronic logbook of the application. Multiple pilots, gliders, launch sites and landing places can be stored in the database and can be added (point and click) to the downloaded flights. All standard and GPS related features, settings and option mode functions of the 4030 can be configured in Flychart and then uploaded to the unit. Flychart Professional also allows the pilot to download data from the 4030 to build performance polars which can then be uploaded back to the 4030.

Included with 4030 GPS Access

  • Compact, coiled GPS interface cable
  • Flychart Professional 4.0 for Windows
  • PC interface cable
